we have had joint families, we are seeing nuclear families, but there is this concept of atomic families also. just the man & his woman or just a sngle person living alone. this trend is pretty common in metros. now spreading to tier-2 cities. only benefit is increased consumption of consumer goods which supports the capitalist type of economy. but what about the eroding moral values in the society. increased violence against women, rise of unethical occupations, increased cheating. all these are just a few side effects of the great indian joint family breakup.
